SHOJI SCREENS

The Chinese Ming and T’a Ch’ing dynasties (1368-1912 A.D.) and the Japanese Muromachi and Momayama periods (1392-1603 A.D.) gave us rice paper sliding doors or partitions, commonly known as Shoji Screens.  From this influence came the development of modern day sliding glass patio door – a very popular window style in the contemporary and modern home. The most fascinating aspect of Shoji Screens is that they are modular. A Shoji is an individual panel that can be hinged to fit on sliding or folding tracks. This enables Shoji screens to serve as room dividers, and large or small rooms can be created quickly and easily for home and corporate functions.  Shoji Screens are also available as door coverings and window coverings.
